One Word Review Good for fans of Horror Films
Quick Review
"Evil Dead Rise," the most recent entry in the series from director Lee Cronin, is yet another violent, bloody, gory, and downright gruesome time that takes the most serious and demented approach yet. It continues the trend of no misses for this series.
Ellie is played by Alyssa Sutherland, who gives the scariest and most heinous performance of any infected villain in the franchise. Lily Sullivan plays Beth, who is a Final Girl who is more than worth rooting for to kill her way to survival.
For a film that dials in at 100 minutes, the energetic and relentless speed never gives you an opportunity to inhale and keeps you connected beginning to end and offering such a lot of slaughter sweets that you would have your best of the lot with regards to the best kills whether it's the odd utilization of a cheddar grater or the legitimate utilization of the famous trimming tool. Split diopters, Dutch angles, and cinematography that learns from the typical grey palette of the previous film and intensifies the color grading for a much more lively film demonstrate creativity to the fullest. Both the editing and, especially, the sound design create an atmosphere in which these characters never get a break because they may be about to die. Another excellent entry into this franchise.
Every single one of the actors and actresses, particularly Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland, who played the sisters, did an outstanding job. The makeup department also did an outstanding job with the demon-possessed people. However, it's odd that at the end of the movie, we saw the girl getting ready to go on her trip that we saw at the beginning of the movie. If she lived where you thought she would have heard and seen everything that happened, it seems like she didn't.
"Evil Dead Rise" (2023). This movie did a great job of capturing the essence of the original "Evil Dead" series while also providing a novel and original perspective on the plot. The cinematography was shocking, with each shot flawlessly catching the loathsomeness and strain of the film. The gory and gruesome scenes were both believable and terrifying thanks to the excellent special effects.
However, the cast of "Evil Dead Rise" is what really sets it apart. Every actor gave it their all and truly portrayed their roles, and the performances were outstanding. Every character, from the lead to the supporting cast, felt fully fleshed out and contributed to the story's overall depth.
"Evil Dead Rise" is a must-see for all horror fans in general. It brings everything we love about the original "Evil Dead" films into the present day in a way that is just right. I can't say enough good things about this movie—it has thrilling scares, excellent filmmaking, and a talented cast.
