The Super Mario Brothers film might be quite possibly of the best time experience i've had in a film as a Mario fan and a movement fan.

The movie had a lot of references and easter eggs, which made me jump in my seat and made me smile so much as I watched it from the beginning to the after-credits scene (yes, it is worth watching if you want to see any future sequels). The story was simple, which I didn't mind, and the movie had a fast pace that makes you want more by the end or wish the world they've created could have been expanded on more. This movie really felt like they took everything wonderful and nostalgic from every Mario game and beautifully crafted it into this magical concoction of what made the world of Mario so unique to anyone who has ever picked up a Mario game. It was just that much of a visual spectacle. On occasion I nearly felt close to home due to how unbelievable it felt watching these characters and this universe who i've cherished and grown up with for a really long time at last come to the big screen and become more standard.


Surprisingly, the voice actors were pleasant! Jack Dark as Bowser truly makes each scene his own and Keegan-Michael Key as Frog is practically unrecognizable. As Luigi and Peach, Charlie Day and Anya Taylor Joy were excellent, and Chris Pratt actually performed exceptionally well. The only thing I don't like about the casting is that Seth Rogan played Donkey Kong without really trying to change his voice; he was just Seth Rogan.


This movie had a phenomenal soundtrack! They used music and sounds from both old and new games in such a wide range. In addition, they include a few songs from the 1980s in this movie, giving it a more contemporary and "illuminationy" vibe than I'm used to. ALSO! I CANNOT COMPLAIN this song went hard, and Jack Black's Bowser has such a killer musical number that will stay with you as you leave.

Overall, I think this movie is very watchable again, and I had such a fun and emotional time watching it! I urge you to watch this movie and form your own opinions based on it, regardless of whether you are a diehard fan or just a regular moviegoer.
